Update on 3/17/2020
We are doing a bit of "wait and see" on this major outdoor fundraising event. If rescheduling is needed, refunds will be given if you are unable to attend the new date. Again, we are not changing the date at this time. Thank you for your patience.

Saturday May 9th 2020: The Gretna Gritty is celebrating it's 8th year of muddy fun! We seek to have an AMAZING event with the BEST course around & Raise $50,000! All proceeds for this event, excluding the costs of participation, will go directly toward Gretna Glen Camp & Retreat Center's "Pathway to the Future" Initiative. We seek to cast off our burden of debt so that camp can continue free of financial struggle, transforming lives for many years to come. With your help, we can make this happen. With competitive, non competitive, and children's options there is something for everyone. Sign up today!
Competitive and Non-Competitive:
Competitive waves will run at 8:00 am for ALL INDIVIDUALS and 8:10 am for ALLCOMPETITIVE TEAMS. All Competitive runners will be chip timed by professionals from Falcon Race Timing. Competitive runners are expected to do obstacles to completion OR finish a set amount of burpees.
Non-competitive waves will begin at 8:30 and run through 11:30am (final start). These waves are all the mess with half the stress- no need to finish every obstacle and walking is welcome! This year we will be clearing the Gretna Gritty course at 1:00 PM - so if you will need more than 1.5 hours to finish - please choose an earlier wave.
*The Walk-A-Thon option has not been discontinued, but absorbed into the non-comp. option. If you just want to walk the course and go beside the obstacles - that is A-OKAY! If you decide to get muddy - you're covered there also.
Competitive teams: All competitive teams MUST SIGN UP FOR THE 8:10 COMPETITIVE TEAMS WAVE. These teams are 4 people - no more/ no less. When you create a competitive team you are guaranteed the 4 spots you need. If your team doesn't fill up you are still welcome to come and be chip timed, but in order to be in the running for the Individual awards you will need to run the 8:00 am Individuals Wave. If more than 12 full teams are in the 8:10 wave, we will split the wave into two so that runners will not be as bottle-necked. The team award ceremony will be held after the inital awards ceremony as these results take longer to finalize
Non-competitive teams: We love our big non-competitive teams - thank you team leaders! These teams can be as large as you want but please pay close attention to the registration limits and choose a wave with enough spots for your team. Also it is best to create your team and have everyone sign up within a short period of time to be sure you've all registered together. If you have any complications feel free to e-mail email@example.com and we can help to make sure everyone gets in where they need to.
Swag and Awards:
ALL RUNNERS (Nitty Gritty Included) will receive:
- T-Shirt with Sweet Gretna Gritty Design (Register by 4-27-2019 to receive a T-Shirt)
- Lunch (Burger, Hot Dog, Salad, Chips, Drink - Vegetarian options available)

The award ceremony for the Competitive Event will begin promptly at 9:30 am. Awards will be given for:
- Top 3 Male Overall
- Top 3 Female Overall
- Top 3 Teams (TEAM AWARDS MAY BE LATER THAN THE INDIVIDUAL CEREMONY)
Recognition will be given for the top finishers in each age category (12,19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+)
Results will also be posted online within 12 hours of the completion of the event.
In it's 7th year - the Nitty Gritty is a 1.3 mile kids obstacle run for kids 5-11 years old. Show up anytime between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm for 10+ obstacles filled with mud and fun! Odds are - your child will want to run it more than once! While your child is doing the NItty Gritty we ask if a guardian could stay at the start and finish area (right next to each other) in the event that your child has any needs while on the course. This is where they will return upon completion, or if they have any trouble on the course (lost a shoe, got tired, etc.).
*Parents may run alongside their kids - but they may not participate in the obstacles.
*Obstacles are supervised - trail is monitored.
*Multiple laps are allowed - but our staff reserve the right to ask a child to be done if they seem too tired, or overstimulated for their own safety.
