General Information for Summer Camp
Gretna Glen has over 200 acres of scenic hills and woodlands ideal for personal reflection, community building and spiritual growth experiences for people of all ages. Be assured that the safety of Gretna Glen summer campers and guests is our first concern. In order to provide a "Safe Sanctuary," we require staff members and volunteers to be carefully selected, subjected to background checks and clearances, and properly trained before working with children or youth.During your child's week at camp a parent or guardian will be contacted if...
- Your camper is ill, with a fever over 100 degrees

Day Camp
Day Camp at Gretna Glen is a wonderful way for kids to explore nature, make new friends, and learn about Christ's love for us! Every week of day camp is different, with a new theme and new lessons, so pick one, two or more weeks and make Gretna Glen a great part of your child's summer. Campers will be assigned to age-level family groups which will enable us to design activities for each 'family' based on age. Day Camp hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00-4:00. Extended Day hours are available for morning drop off between 7:30 am and 8:45 am and at the end of the day from 4:00 pm until pick up at 5:30 pm. Please register with the ID that includes an 'E' at the end of the day camp event ID. Extended Day Cost: $40.00 per week.
Children's Camp
All Gretna Glen children's campers will have the opportunity to share in the camp experience filled with singing, Bible Study, worship, crafts, nature, swimming, boating, fishing, campfires, hiking, archery, sports, games and much more. Each program is designed specifically to be age appropriate. Housing assignments vary according to event.
Youth Camps
All Gretna Glen Youth campers will have opportunities to share experiences filled with singing, Bible Study, worship, crafts, nature, challenge course, swimming, boating, campfires, hiking, archery, special programs and more, all in a Christian environment. Housing assignments vary according to event.
Financial Support
The camping program of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference provides limited funding for children and youth whose families have need of financial assistance. Camper families who cannot afford the full fee should first contact their local United Methodist Church about scholarship support. If the camper's family and local church cannot cover the event cost, the family should check the box on the registration form to request a scholarship application. Scholarship Funds have been made available through the Nancy A. Raab Memorial Fund and donations made by friends of Gretna Glen. Camperships will be awarded based on needs as funds are available.
Cell Phone Policy
Gretna Glen, along with summer camps across the country, has continued to enforce a no camper cell phone policy. While we can appreciate the desire for parents and guardians to be in contact with their camper while they are at camp the risks of allowing camper cell phones continue to outweigh the benefits. Cell phones continue to advance and offer multi use functions like camera, video recording, music player, texting, web browsing and uploading, and video games that can put campers at risk when misused or unsupervised and at risk of emotional injury at the hands of a cell phone, especially with internet capabilities. In addition to these factors, cell phones can be expensive and the outdoor camp environment can be hard on electronics, as well as risking losing or having a phone stolen. We encourage letters from home and encourage campers to write letters while they are here. During your child's week at camp we can assure you that a parent or guardian will be contacted if...
- Your camper is ill, with a fever over 100 degrees
- Your camper has to be taken to or needs to go to the doctor or hospital
- If we have any questions regarding medications or healthcare of your child
- Your camper is unable to function within the community of Gretna Glen in a healthy way
We thank you in advance for your support of our policy regarding the safety of campers.
